After six years of loyal service, Graham Waspe was devastated when his guide dog Edward was left blind from an extremely rare form of Glaucoma. Fortunately, a new dog named Opal was up to the task of guiding both Graham and Edward.
Edward, an eight-year-old Labrador, has been retired for four months but the loss of his eyesight has shown no sign of slowing him down. He listens to commands given to new dog Opal so he knows when to turn left or right etc. He follows Opal quite closely and listens to her foot-fall.
The two dogs have become fast friends, and they make presentations to local school groups together. Despite the loss of his eyes, Edward still loves nothing more than to be around children, have his tummy tickled and receive lots of attention.
